Mailing Lists

There are two mailing lists that are useful in keeping up-to-date with NASIS issues. They are NASISNEWS and NASIS-REPORTS. NASISNEWS is an electronic mailing list for users of NASIS. It is used to send out notices about changes or problems with NASIS that would affect your use of the system. NASIS-REPORTS is an electronic mailing list for users who write reports in NASIS. It is used to share information about writing reports in NASIS. Subscribers can send messages directly to the list server, and they will be relayed to all other subscribers. Please do not use the list for arguments or off-topic comments. You can subscribe to both mailing lists.

The first time you run NASIS you should do the following:

  1. Set your default group in NASIS.

    • Start NASIS.
    • Select the Options menu, Change Default Group and choose a group from the list.

  2. Enter your personal information in NASIS.

The NASIS User table includes an email address and phone number. The NASIS support staff uses this information as a means of contacting and/or notifying NASIS users of issues such as system problems or scheduled downtime.

Enter your phone number including any extension and your email address in NASIS. Here are the instructions for doing this:

    • Start NASIS
    • Select your user record by clicking on File, Select, click on National button to display the list of queries owned by Pangaea, scroll down to find the query “User record for yourself”. This will load your information into the NASIS user table.
    • Open the User table by clicking View, NASIS Users, NASIS Users.
    • Enter your phone number and your email address.
    • Save the changes by clicking File, Save.

With this data populated, the NASIS Support Staff can quickly contact NASIS users either by phone or email. We appreciate your help in populating this information.

You can run an NSSC Data report called “UTIL - User Listing” to see a list of users within each NASIS Site. The report prints the user names, addresses, and phone numbers.

  3. Set up NASIS Printing

Instructions for setting up NASIS printing are available in the NASIS Tutorial, Appendix C.
