The hierarchy is a reverse pyramid proceeding from most general at the top to most specific at the bottom. From top to bottom: Common Ecological Region (CER), Major Land Resource Area (MLRA), Common Resource Area (CRA), STATSGO (General Soil Map), SSURGO (Detailed Soil Map), Components (Soil Series), and Pedon.
